Breathitt Countians can’t seem to catch a break. For the third time in as many years, the region has been hit by flooding due to heavy rains. Fortunately for most residents of Breathitt County, todays flood will crest at 30 feet. That is just 1 foot over flood stage.
The regular low lying areas in Breathitt are currently under water such as Southfork, Wolverine Road, HWY 476 and the lower end of Douthitt Park.
One person at the Riley Branch area of 476 attempted to drive through the flooded roadway, they did not succeed. Noone was hurt but the vehicle is still in the water.

Folks who are still shell shocked from last July’s record breaking floods are understandably nervous anytime the region gets heavy rain and any type of flooding. APPCV will have details of flooding as they become available.
