Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision in Pike County

Aflex, KY. (February 11, 2022) – Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a call on February 9, 2022, at 10:17 a.m. reporting a single vehicle collision had occurred on State Highway 292 East in the Aflex community of Pike County. Troopers from Post 9 responded and began the investigation.

The initial investigation indicated Kimberly Mayhew, 39 years old of Williamson, WV, was operating a 2002 Jeep Liberty on State Highway 292 E, when Mayhew’s vehicle exited the roadway and overturned into the creek. Kimberly Mayhew and one other occupant, Kelli Toney, 36 years old of Delbarton, WV, were pronounced deceased on scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.

Trooper Chase Maynard is investigating the collision and was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Belfry Volunteer Fire Department, Turkey Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Appalachian First Response Ambulance Service.
