American Electric Power (AEP) has reached an agreement to sell Kentucky Power to Liberty, pending approval from regulators. Liberty has extensive experience delivering electricity, natural gas, water and wastewater services to more than 1 million customer connections, mainly in 13 U.S. states and Canada. They are committed to providing safe, reliable energy to power the homes and businesses in eastern Kentucky.
Kentucky Power and our employees are a proud part of the fabric of the communities we serve. You’ll see many of the same faces you have gotten to know over the years as Kentucky Power employees continue their work to keep the lights on as part of Liberty.
The Kentucky Public Service Commission and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will need to review and approve the agreement before the sale can be finalized. We expect it will take until late spring or early summer 2022 for this process to be completed.
