Nursing students at Hazard Community and Technical College are getting great on-the-job training by administering the COVID-19 vaccine for Hazard ARH.

Nursing Program Coordinator Christy Martin said she is very pleased with the work of the second year Registered Nursing (RN) students. Students could opt out of the experience if they wished; however, Professor Martin was happy to see 100 percent participation of her students.

Students began the service, at no charge to ARH, on January 7. “We will continue to administer the vaccine as long as needed,” Martin said.

Nursing students follow all procedures to keep themselves and the patients safe, including wearing masks.

“I’m happy to see students want to help in this effort to protect and be of service in our community,” Martin said.
