Stanton, KY. (September 29, 2020) –Kentucky State Police, Post 8, Morehead received a call for assistance with a two vehicle fatal collision on KY 9000 between the 32 mile marker and 33 mile marker. It was determined through the investigation, a 2004 Chevy pickup operated by Brendan Evans, 18 years of age, of McDowell, KY was traveling east. Mr. Evans was traveling in the left lane when he crossed into the right lane striking Charley Bailey, 30 years of age, of Salyersville, KY. Mr. Bailey was standing at the rear of his truck and trailer that was parked in the emergency lane of the eastbound lanes. Mr. Bailey was pronounced deceased on the scene by Powell County Coroner Megan Davis. Mr. Evans was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital to be treated for nonlife threatening injuries. Kentucky State Police was assisted by Powell County Sheriff’s Department, Powell County Fire department and Powell County EMS. This collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Post 8, Morehead.
