Ary, KY. (September 25, 2020) – On Thursday September 24, 2020, at approximately 2:07 p.m Troopers from post 13 in Hazard responded to a single vehicle collision in the Ary Community of Perry County.
Initial Investigation indicates that an underage juvenile was operating a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser traveling North bound on KY-1087 when the vehicle crossed the center line into the southbound lane and over an embankment. Further Investigation indicates that a Passenger Glen D. Johnson, 53 of Ary was ejected from the vehicle causing fatal injury. Johnson was pronounced deceased on scene by Perry County Coroner’s Office. The juvenile operator was air lifted to Johnson City Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
It appears that the operator was using a seat belt while the passenger of the vehicle was not using a seat belt at the time of the collision. Toxicology reports are pending. This collision remains under investigation by Tpr. Ronnie Long.
