LINEFORK, Ky. (June 27, 2019) – A two vehicle crash claimed the life of a Letcher County man Wednesday evening. Troopers with Kentucky State Police (KSP) Posts 13 and EMS personnel were called to the scene on Highway 7 South in the Line Fork community of Letcher County after Post 13 received calls regarding the collision at around 5:30p.m.
At the scene investigators determined that 25 year old Nathan Cole of Line Fork was driving a Mercury Grand Marquis while traveling south on Highway 7. The car crossed the center line and traveled into the northbound lane where it collided with a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by 52 year old David Mark Holbrook of Whitesburg. Nathan Cole was pronounced deceased at the scene by Letcher County Coroner Renee Campbell. David Mark Holbrook was taken to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. He was later transferred to University of Kentucky Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
No autopsy will be performed and toxicology results from specimens obtained from both drivers are pending. This incident remains under investigation by Detective Scott Caudill with KSP Post 13.
