Brother is charged with murder.
Colson, Ky. (September 10, 2019) – A Letcher County man was found shot to death at his residence early this morning and a relative has been charged with his murder. Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 were called to a residence on Cane Hollow Road in the Colson community at around 4:45 a.m., following reports that a man was discovered unresponsive in his basement. Upon arrival Troopers located a man deceased inside the residence from an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen. Letcher County Coroner Renee Campbell responded to the residence and pronounced 40 year old Timothy Profitt deceased.
Information and evidence obtained during the initial investigation by KSP personnel led to the arrest 44 year old Eddie Ryan Profitt for the murder of his brother Timothy Profitt. While it has been determined that both men lived together at the residence on Cane Hollow Road, events leading up to the shooting have not been determined. There is no indication that anyone else was involved with this incident and no additional charges are pending at this time.
An autopsy will be performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort at a later date. Ryan Profitt was charged with one count of Murder and is lodged in the Letcher County Jail. Detective Clayton Stamper with KSP Post 13 is leading this investigation.
